Underneath It all
My aim with this project was to document the relationship women have with their bodies. I focused on their insecurities; stretch marks, broken veins, cellulite, body fat, breasts that sag, the list goes on. I wanted to show women's bodies not posed, angled, "sucking in", or in ladylike/flattering way. I wanted the model to have the space to be themselves and to relax. I used 35mm film to capture this image and did not edit it as that would defeat the purpose of this work. In the images, I incorporated flowers. I wanted the flowers to send a message to the viewer that women's bodies are beautiful whichever way they are, that each one is different and that's not a bad thing.
